The answer is, <strong>adopt a <em>slow lifestyle.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>A slow lifestyle is the antithesis of the chaotic and dynamic rhythm we live in.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s all about focusing on <strong>living the present,<\/strong> <strong>being mindful<\/strong> of your thoughts, <strong>adopting healthy eating habits<\/strong>, <strong>moving your body<\/strong> and <strong>finding joy<\/strong> in the mundane things.<\/p>\n<p>By embracing a slow lifestyle, you can transform your way of <strong>thinking, moving, eating <\/strong>and<strong> living.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This way of living <strong>improves your quality of life and longevity,<\/strong> as best represented by <strong>the people of<a href=\"https:\/\/shawellness.com\/shamagazine\/7-life-secrets-of-the-oldest-people-in-the-world\/?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Okinawa<\/a><\/strong>, the population that live the longest. Their philosophy is to practice <a href=\"https:\/\/shawellness.com\/shamagazine\/the-mindful-eating-movement\/?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">mindful eating<\/a>, only <strong>eat until their 70% full<\/strong>, spend time <strong>outdoors<\/strong>, <strong>practice sports<\/strong>, spend <strong>quality time with loved ones<\/strong> and always f<strong>ocus on the positive aspects of life.<\/strong> Seeing that the Okinawan\u2019s live past their hundreds, it seems that <strong>adopting a <em>slow <\/em>lifestyle is the way forward for long-term health and wellbeing.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4><strong>So, what does a <em>slow<\/em> lifestyle really consist of?<\/strong><\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4><strong>Slow down<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>An important aspect of <em>slow <\/em>living is taking things as they come and <strong>focusing on living the present.<\/strong> There\u2019s no point in anticipating what is going to happen next, as that attitude will only take you away from the most important moment, now. <strong>Take a slower approach to everything you do.<\/strong> This doesn\u2019t imply taking double the time when doing something, it simply means that you shouldn\u2019t rush and feel unnecessary pressure to finish things off quickly to move on to the next thing. It\u2019s important to <strong>focus on what you\u2019re doing and adopt a relaxed approach in every action that you do.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Slow food<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Taking a moment to enjoy a meal, whether it\u2019s alone or with loved ones, has been part of our culture for centuries. It wasn\u2019t till the digital age where we\u2019ve become totally disconnected from the art of enjoying a meal and our <strong>digital devices have taken over and have distracted us from being full present in the act of eating.<\/strong> The <strong>digestion process starts in the mouth<\/strong>, whilst we chew, therefore, the mere fact that our brain is distracted whilst we\u2019re eating, can make us unaware when we\u2019re feeling full and cause us not to chew our food properly. This <strong>can cause digestive issues as well as an increase in appetite.<\/strong> To avoid this from happening, <strong>make your eating time a sacred moment where you enjoy the food you\u2019re eating.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Slow movement<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>When we\u2019re busy running around constantly, <strong>we force our body to produce cortisol<\/strong>, the stress hormone, t<strong>o keep us running on an adrenaline.<\/strong> This constant stress we put our body under, <strong>causes premature aging, depression, chronic stress and fatigue.<\/strong> Don\u2019t let stress take over your life, and e<strong>ngage in calming practices such as <a href=\"https:\/\/shawellness.com\/shamagazine\/mindfulness-stuart-bold\/?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">mindfulness<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/shawellness.com\/shamagazine\/introduction-meditation\/?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">meditation<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/shawellness.com\/shamagazine\/detox-yoga-for-the-body-and-mind\/?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">yoga<\/a> and walking in nature.<\/strong> Whilst working out is essential, it\u2019s also important to balance high intensity training with relaxing practices, to allow your body to restore and revitalise itself.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Without a doubt, a<strong> <em>slow <\/em>lifestyle improves your health and wellbeing.<\/strong> We can all implement these positive changes to improve our quality of life. <strong>Why not adopt a <em>slow <\/em>lifestyle?<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ever feel that you are juggling many different things at once that you don\u2019t have time live in the present?
