As more <strong>evidence of the detrimental effects it has on our health<\/strong> comes out, we\u2019ve become more conscious of its consumption.<\/p>\n<p>In the 1960\u2019s, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2016\/09\/13\/well\/eat\/how-the-sugar-industry-shifted-blame-to-fat.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the sugar industry<\/a> tried to <strong>shift blame on the increase of obesity, diabetes and heart disease on fats.<\/strong> This led people to believe that fat made you fat, ignoring the fact that actually, <a href=\"https:\/\/shawellness.com\/shamagazine\/why-healthy-fats-are-essential-for-optimum-health\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>fats are essential for our health<\/strong><\/a>, and it\u2019s actually <strong>sugar that causes weight-gain<\/strong>, alongside wrecking <strong>havoc our digestive system<\/strong>, <strong>debilitating our immune system<\/strong> and increasing the chances of <strong>suffering from diabetes<\/strong> as well as <strong>causing inflammation in the body.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4><em>Did you know that eating sugar debilitates your immune system by 70%?<\/em><\/h4>\n<p>Nowadays, <strong>the amount of sugar our society consumes is astronomical<\/strong>. The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.who.int\/mediacentre\/news\/releases\/2015\/sugar-guideline\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>World Health Organization<\/strong><\/a> doesn\u2019t recommend <strong>exceeding 25 grams of sugar a day<\/strong>, however, in most developing countries, <strong>the consumption of sugar is triple this amount<\/strong>.
