But in a world where <strong>sugar is more accessible<\/strong> than ever, it doesn\u2019t come as a surprise that the average<strong> person is consuming more sugar than ever before<\/strong>, considering that <strong>sugar can be<\/strong> as or <strong>more addictive than cocaine<\/strong>. The <strong>neural affects of sugar<\/strong> appear to be<strong> more rewarding than that of cocaine<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>But, whilst we hear that sugar is bad for our health, <strong>do we really know the actual affects it causes?<\/strong> Find out why you should<strong> consider quitting sugar<\/strong> to <strong>improve<\/strong> your <strong>health<\/strong>, energy, <strong>concentration<\/strong> levels, <strong>mood<\/strong>, immunity and <strong>gut health<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>The surprising <strong>detrimental effects of sugar<\/strong> on your health:<\/h3>\n<h4><strong>1. It wreaks havoc on your gut health.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>We\u2019ve extensively looked at how<strong> gut health is essential for our immunity<\/strong>, mood and <strong>energy levels<\/strong>. <strong>Sugar<\/strong> <strong>feeds \u2018bad bacteria\u2019<\/strong> of the gut and <strong>suppresses good bacteria<\/strong>, causing an <strong>imbalance of the micro biome<\/strong>, which as a result <strong>affects digestion<\/strong>, <strong>nutrient absorption<\/strong>, <strong>immunity<\/strong> and <strong>causes inflammation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>2. It lowers immunity <\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong> <\/strong>Around <strong>70% of our immunity is based in the gut<\/strong>, meaning that when we <strong>eat foods rich in sugar<\/strong>, we\u2019re <strong>weakening our immune system<\/strong>. It causes a process known as<strong> glycation<\/strong>, in which<strong> sugar molecules<\/strong> <strong>attach<\/strong> themselves <strong>to collagen fibres<\/strong> and cause them to<strong> lose their strength and flexibility<\/strong>. This <strong>becomes<\/strong> a <strong>never-ending cycle<\/strong> that can only <strong>be fixed<\/strong> by <strong>removing sugar from your diet<\/strong> and allowing for your blood sugar levels to stabilise.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>5. It imbalances hormone levels<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Every time our <strong>blood sugar levels suffer<\/strong> the <strong>\u201crollercoaster effect\u201d<\/strong> that sugar causes, our<strong> hormone levels are also affected<\/strong>. Many <strong>women<\/strong> <strong>suffer<\/strong> <strong>hormonal dysfunction<\/strong> because they\u2019re <strong>blood sugar levels are constantly increasing<\/strong> and <strong>decreasing<\/strong> and aren\u2019t stable. This is the worst thing you can do to your hormone levels.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>6. It affects your mood<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong> <\/strong>Just like our hormone and energy levels are affected by constant blood sugar level changes, our <strong>mood does as well<\/strong>.
