{"id":41732,"date":"2018-08-30T08:00:29","date_gmt":"2018-08-30T08:00:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shawellness.com\/shamagazine\/en\/?p=41732"},"modified":"2022-03-04T08:54:50","modified_gmt":"2022-03-04T08:54:50","slug":"the-benefits-of-konjac","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shawellness.com\/shamagazine\/en\/the-benefits-of-konjac\/","title":{"rendered":"The benefits of Konjac for health and weight control"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Have you ever heard of the Konjac?<\/strong> It is our new addition in the SHA kitchen and today we will <strong>tell you all about its benefits, how to use it and how to include it in your diet<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Konjac is the common name for what is known as <strong>Amorphophallus konjac<\/strong>, a <strong>plant<\/strong> that comes<strong> from India<\/strong>, which is <strong>being used increasingly<\/strong> more due to its <strong>medicinal properties<\/strong>. The<strong> most important part of this plant is the tuber<\/strong> that it produces, from which <strong>flour is obtained<\/strong> that traditionally has been used in Japan to <strong>make porridge or noodles<\/strong>, or as a thickening agent<em>.<\/em> However, the <strong>medicinal part is the glucomannan<\/strong>, a polysaccharide that is obtained from the konjac flour.<\/p>\n<p>In general <strong>we use the konjac pasta<\/strong> because it has a <strong>satiating effect<\/strong> on the appetite, which means that it is an adjuvant in weight loss diets, as it <strong>reduces hunger pangs and anxiety<\/strong>, thanks to its capacity to absorb water and satisfy us, as well as <strong>helping to control constipation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>It is also <strong>used for problems with glycaemia<\/strong>, <strong>cholesterol<\/strong> or<strong> inflammatory bowel diseases<\/strong>. With regard to cases of diabetes consuming fibre throughout the day is known to control glycaemia, thus helping to avoid the \u201cblood sugar peaks \u201cafter meals. The glucomannan works in the same way, which is why it is important to be careful if you are on medication.<\/p>\n<p>It <strong>can be used like any other type of pasta in our diet<\/strong>. It must be washed before cooking and then the sauce that has been prepared is added or the broth, like a miso soup.<\/p>\n<p>Make a nice dish of saut\u00e9ed vegetables and add a few shirataki (konjac spaghetti), a simple and delicious recipe. <strong>You can also come to our Shamadi restaurant and be pampered by our chefs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Have you ever heard of the Konjac?
