Sin embargo, no se trata de una novedad dentro del yoga, sino que <strong>fue creada en los a\u00f1os 40 por B.K.S. Iyengar.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Una vida dedicada al yoga<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Nacido en el seno de una familia muy pobre de la India, B.K.S. Iyengar sufri\u00f3 tuberculosis y otras enfermedades durante su adolescencia. Para mejorar su salud empez\u00f3 a practicar yoga, convirti\u00e9ndose finalmente en un gur\u00fa. Con 15 a\u00f1os comenz\u00f3 a vivir con su cu\u00f1ado, el conocido yogui <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sri_Tirumalai_Krishnamacharya\">Sri Tirumalai Krishnamacharya<\/a>. Fue \u00e9l quien envi\u00f3 a Iyengar a la ciudad de Pune donde <strong>comenz\u00f3 a ense\u00f1ar y a desarrollar su propia disciplina<\/strong>. M\u00e1s tarde,<strong> sus alumnos dieron a su estilo de yoga el nombre de Yoga Iyengar para diferenciarle de los dem\u00e1s<\/strong>. La figura de B.K.S. Iyengar es crucial adem\u00e1s en la <strong>expansi\u00f3n del yoga en el mundo occidental<\/strong> ya que forma parte del grupo de yogis que introdujeron el yoga en el estilo de vida occidental.<\/p>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4><strong>Un yoga basado en el yoga de Pata\u00f1jali<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Pata\u00f1jali (personaje relevante de la literatura india) compuso los yogas sutras, un texto en el que se sistematiza por primera vez la ciencia del yoga. Ense\u00f1an el camino a seguir para practicar yoga, dividido en 8 puntos:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Yama<\/strong>: principios \u00e9ticos universales<\/li>\n<li><strong>Niyama<\/strong>: disciplina individual<\/li>\n<li><strong>Asana<\/strong>: posturas de yoga<\/li>\n<li><strong>Pranayama<\/strong>: regulaci\u00f3n de la respiraci\u00f3n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Pratyahara<\/strong>: interiorizaci\u00f3n de los sentidos<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dharana<\/strong>: concentraci\u00f3n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dhyana<\/strong>: meditaci\u00f3n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Samadhi<\/strong>: nivel superior de conciencia<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Las especificidades del yoga Iyengar<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong>La caracter\u00edstica principal del yoga Iyengar, desarrollado por B.K.S. Iyengar, es la intensidad que la mente y la inteligencia deben poner en la pr\u00e1ctica de las asanas<\/strong>, en el control de la respiraci\u00f3n y la interiorizaci\u00f3n de los sentidos. <strong>Es un yoga muy exigente<\/strong>, que da mucha importancia a la secuenciaci\u00f3n. Es decir, que permite al practicante conocer en qu\u00e9 orden y con qu\u00e9 tiempo de permanencia se tienen que hacer los periodos de asana y pranayama.<\/p>\n<p>Adem\u00e1s, para practicar el yoga Iyengar <strong>se utilizan soportes dise\u00f1ados por B.K.S. Iyengar, como sillas o cinturones<\/strong>. Lo que permite al practicante obtener un mejor beneficio y una mayor perfecci\u00f3n en las posturas. Los soportes ayudan a las personas con dificultad a poder realizar las posturas.
