Uno de sus principales beneficios es mantener los niveles de calcio (y secundariamente el f\u00f3sforo y el magnesio) y plasma en valores \u00f3ptimos para desempe\u00f1ar su papel fundamental en la mineralizaci\u00f3n del sistema \u00f3seo en todas las etapas de la vida.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOtros beneficios son, adem\u00e1s, la correcta regulaci\u00f3n de la actividad neuromuscular, la transducci\u00f3n de se\u00f1ales qu\u00edmicas entre los diversos \u00f3rganos y, de forma muy importante, la modulaci\u00f3n del sistema de defensa natural frente a las infecciones\u201d, se\u00f1ala el Dr. Vicente Mera, responsable del \u00e1rea de Medicina Interna de SHA.<\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><strong>Crucial para activar las defensas en el organismo<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Un reciente estudio de la Universidad de Copenhague, y publicado en <em>Nature Inmunology<\/em>, confirm\u00f3 que la vitamina D es absolutamente imprescindible para activar el sistema inmunitario de forma que \u00e9ste sea efectivo a la hora de proponer defensas s\u00f3lidas frente a las amenazas externas. Sin la vitamina D, las llamadas c\u00e9lulas T (que son las encargadas de erradicar los virus y bacterias) no reaccionan ante una infecci\u00f3n grave.<\/p>\n<p>Las c\u00e9lulas T son un tipo de gl\u00f3bulos blancos que logran detectar y suprimir grupos de bacterias y virus que se cuelan en nuestro organismo. Cuando se exponen a un pat\u00f3geno que viene de fuera, emiten una especie de receptor que busca la vitamina D para poder actuar. Si no la encuentran, las c\u00e9lulas T ni siquiera llegar\u00e1n a movilizarse.<\/p>\n<p>Seg\u00fan los hallazgos del estudio, unos valores estables de vitamina D en nuestro organismo reducir\u00edan considerablemente el riesgo de contraer infecciones, enfermedades autoinmunes, ciertos tipos de c\u00e1ncer y osteoporosis.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>\u00bfC\u00f3mo conseguimos un aporte suficiente de vitamina D?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>La obtenci\u00f3n de la Vitamina D depende de varios factores de importancia variable seg\u00fan cada persona y muchas veces aparecen conectados entre s\u00ed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPrincipalmente son el aporte digestivo, una exposici\u00f3n a la luz solar, activaci\u00f3n hep\u00e1tica y especialmente la renal. Las interacciones entre los distintos niveles son m\u00faltiples, as\u00ed como la eficiencia del receptor de la vitamina en los distintos \u00f3rganos diana, que puede ser la causa de que, aun con concentraciones plasm\u00e1ticas adecuadas, se presenten s\u00edntomas y signos deficitarios\u201d, detalla el Dr. Vicente Mera.<\/p>\n<p>Es fundamental incluir alimentos ricos en vitamina D dentro de nuestra dieta. \u201cEn la dieta SHA recomendamos especialmente los alimentos de origen vegetal, ya que no tienen los inconvenientes que poseen los productos animales sobre el peso corporal y el metabolismo del colesterol\u201d, concreta el especialista de SHA.<\/p>\n<p>Otra forma de obtener vitamina D es a trav\u00e9s de la exposici\u00f3n solar, aunque es algo a manejar con cautela por los efectos nocivos que poseen los rayos ultravioletas.<\/p>\n<p>Y, por supuesto, no hay que olvidar la suplementaci\u00f3n, especialmente \u00fatil para llegar a lugares en los que la propia alimentaci\u00f3n no alcanza por los motivos que fueran.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>De la piel a las carencias diet\u00e9ticas: \u00bfcu\u00e1ndo pueden aparecer d\u00e9ficits de vitamina D?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Hay varios factores que pueden ocasionar una carencia de vitamina D. Seg\u00fan se\u00f1ala el Dr. Vicente Mera, uno de los m\u00e1s habituales es \u201cno aportar suficiente cantidad de alimentos que contienen vitamina D, por ejemplo en dietas vegetarianas estrictas o bajo consumo de pescado de alta mar\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Otros motivos pueden ser pasar poco tiempo al aire libre, vivir en climas con baja exposici\u00f3n solar o la utilizaci\u00f3n de protectores solares.
