Como nos explica la doctora \u00c1mina Alani, responsable de la Unidad de Salud Digestiva de SHA, \u201c<strong>cada persona tiene una microbiota diferente<\/strong> y es muy sensible a los cambios, tanto f\u00edsicos como emocionales. De hecho, las dos causas principales de su alteraci\u00f3n son <strong>una dieta desequilibrada y el estr\u00e9s<\/strong>, ya que el cerebro y el intestino est\u00e1n estrechamente comunicados\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>La microbiota intestinal es clave para disfrutar de una buena salud mental, f\u00edsica y emocional. Entre sus muchas funciones, la doctora destaca \u201cla <strong>metab\u00f3lica y digestiva<\/strong>, ya que las distintas bacterias presentes en la microbiota intestinal humana son capaces de digerir celulosa, almidones complejos, prote\u00ednas y \u00e1cidos grasos, <strong>producen enzimas que ayudan en la digesti\u00f3n<\/strong>, mejoran el tr\u00e1nsito intestinal, sintetizan amino\u00e1cidos esenciales y vitaminas, como la K, la B12 o la B8 (biotina) y colaboran en la absorci\u00f3n de algunos iones, como el magnesio y el hierro. Tambi\u00e9n desempe\u00f1an un papel fundamental en el denominado \u201cefecto barrera\u201d porque ocupan un espacio que <strong>impide la implantaci\u00f3n de bacterias extra\u00f1as<\/strong> al ecosistema intestinal y segregan sustancias antimicrobianas que inhiben el desarrollo de otras potencialmente pat\u00f3genas. Adem\u00e1s, realizan una acci\u00f3n tr\u00f3fica porque los \u00e1cidos grasos de cadena corta producidos por estas bacterias fortalecen los enterocitos, que son las c\u00e9lulas intestinales, y <strong>refuerzan la barrera intestinal<\/strong>, evitando la excesiva permeabilidad del epitelio. Por \u00faltimo, hay que destacar que el sistema inmunitario intestinal es la parte m\u00e1s extensa del sistema inmune, por lo que una <strong>microbiota equilibrada<\/strong> es un factor decisivo en su desarrollo y maduraci\u00f3n\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Mantener un <strong>equilibrio y una alta biodiversidad<\/strong> en la microbiota es indispensable para que pueda desarrollar todas sus funciones correctamente. \u00c1mina nos da las claves para conseguirlo: \u201cla microbiota se alimenta de los nutrientes presentes en nuestra dieta, por lo que esta deber ser saludable, equilibrada e incluir alimentos prebi\u00f3ticos y probi\u00f3ticos. Adem\u00e1s, <strong>aprender a gestionar el estr\u00e9s y nuestras emociones<\/strong>, hacer ejercicio f\u00edsico de manera regular y tener una buena higiene del sue\u00f1o es b\u00e1sico para nuestra salud digestiva.
