Maintaining a healthy active body is essential for a good quality of life. As you know, it is recommended to have a balanced diet and physical activity to achieve this. However, spending some time pampering yourself once in a while can also help. And receiving regular natural therapies can result in both physical and mental improvements.

First of all… What is lymphatic drainage?

Lymphatic drainage is a massage technique that stimulates the drainage of the lymph to the lymph nodes. It activates the body’s natural functions. The lymphatic system extends throughout the body, collecting foreign products and transporting them to the lymph nodes where they are examined. As you can see, it is an essential part of your immune system. In fact, it can recognize antigens and respond to them, minimizing the risk of getting sick.

But that’s why the lymphatic system can sometimes get blocked, due to all the detoxifying it’s doing. A lymphatic drainage massage uses pressure applied to key areas to unblock the flow. This technique is completely painless, as constant soft pressure is applied and increased slowly.

What are its primary effects?

Lymphatic drainage has a wide range of effects, including:

– Activating the immune system: by stimulating the flow of lymph through the lymphatic system, invasive toxins in the body are pushed towards the lymph nodes where they can be analyzed and destroyed.

– Sympatholytic action: this effect is associated with the massage action, as levels of cortisol (stress hormone) in the body are reduced when you receive a lymphatic drainage treatment. You will feel immense relaxation as a result.

– Pain relief: the build-up of lymph in certain areas due to poor circulation can cause swelling from excess fluid. This fluid, because it is being stored in the wrong place, exerts pressure on other structures and can cause pain. When the lymph nodes are decongested, the pain and swelling disappears.

– Draining action: this is the basis of lymphatic drainage. Once toxins are mobilized, the rest of the actions can take place.

Ultimately, lymphatic drainage has many benefits because it affects the entire lymph system throughout the body and not just the treated area.

As you can see, these actions not only benefit the body, but the mind as well. Lymphatic massage helps protect you from seasonal viruses and allows you to feel lighter, more relaxed and more vital.

At SHA Wellness Clinic, we have the Fitness Program in which you can enjoy an Electrical Lymphatic Drainage session and see its positive effects on your body. It includes three other types of therapeutic treatment and a consultation with a nutritional expert, among other services, to help you adopt healthy life habits.
