Fitness means doing a physical activity focused on gradually improving muscle tone. The combination of exercise with an adequate diet are two basic factors for maintaining good health. Below, we summarize what fitness is and what it isn’t, and how it can help you improve your physical resistance.

What is fitness?

The term means aptitude, or in other words, the exercise to be done must be adapted to each person and to the lifestyle one follows in order to take advantage of its fantastic effects. The five basic goals of this activity are:

– Improve physical and muscular resistance. Even though weights are used, we seek improved flexibility and strength, not muscle development.

– For strength, we use weights and do exercises with maximum resistance for one minute. By resting and spreading out the activity, the intent is to increase your cardiovascular health.

– A high percentage of the exercises are aimed at improving flexibility. We work on joint movement intensely. This way, you’ll keep joints from losing their effectiveness and maintain their proper range of movement.

– Depending on whether you are male or female, the exercises are designed to achieve muscular balance. After a few months, and always following a diet, you’ll obtain very satisfactory results that will improve your self-esteem.

Maybe you’re wondering “What isn’t fitness?” The answer is simple: Anything that does not seek adaptation and balance, but rather only seeks to gain mass and develop musculature based on exercises with multiple repetitions and free weights.

Fitness’ health benefits

Apart from weight loss, we have to note the improvement in cardiovascular health. It is a perfect anxiolytic and helps to fight depression. Doing one hour of exercise per day strengthens bones, helps to prevent colon cancer, protects against flu, prevents constipation and gets your body to function correctly.

A balanced diet, the best complement

It’s a truism, but it happens, and it may even have happened to you more than once. After going to the gym and doing a physical workout, you get hungrier and eat more. Remember: a balanced diet must go together with your fitness session. Following these recommendations and you will achieve your objective:

– Do not eat industrial pastries and foods with too much fat.

– Eat fish occasionally. Cook it on the grill or in the oven.

Vegetables must be part of your diet on a daily basis. It’s even better to eat them raw.

Grains and legumes are a source of energy thanks to the carbohydrates they contain. Eat them frequently.

– Avoid fried foods, pre-cooked foods and fast food.

By following these recommendations and adapting fitness exercises to your physical capacity, you’ll obtain visible results in a few weeks. Start now to change your life!
