When it comes to hair health, there are many factors that influence whether hair grows healthily. Diet, stress, genetics, age, hormonal changes, chemical products, medications and the immune system all influence hair health. Without a doubt, our lifestyle has a direct effect on whether we have strong and healthy hair.

The hair experts at Instituto Ricart have delved into the latest studies which reveal that the immune system plays an important role in hair health. The immune system is made up of a network of vital cells and organs that protect the body from infections that cause illnesses. These organs activate lymphocytes, a type of white blood cells that produces antibodies that block viruses and bacteria. They are very diverse, and one of their groups, named “Treg”, has recently caught the attention of the Research Council at the University of California.

How does “Treg” influence hair health?

The latest studies reveal that these lymphocytes are responsible for stimulating skin stem cells to promote healthy and natural hair growth.

The researchers behind these studies have unveiled that the effect they have on hair development could be as important as those carried out by stem cells. It’s evolutionary process divides its activity between immunologic and metabolic, and brings with it very good news. So far, from the laboratory studies that have been carried out, scientists have arrived to the conclusion that these immune units that surround the stem cells present in hair follicles, triple when the glands are submerged to a process of capillary regeneration.

This type of treatment is still in the experimentation phase, but there are many hopes within the field of dermatology and trichology to once and for all find the exact cure to alopecia areata– an autoimmune disease that interferes with the regeneration of the hair follicles and provokes hair loss in the head, eyebrows and face. The solution would be to develop treatments that promote the activity of these immune cells and treats baldness.

In order to strengthen the immune system, and thus hair health, it’s important to nourish oneself. A healthy diet, rich in nutrients, increases immunity. Furthermore, like the experts at Instituto Ricart claim, there are nutrients which are essential to maintain healthy hair. If you suffer from hair problems, the first step is to check your diet and evaluate whether you have a nutritional deficiency.

In more severe cases, like androgenic alopecia, they recommend more specific treatments. At SHA Wellness Clinic, we offer hair treatments like Factors of Capillary Growth Therapy designed for people who suffer from severe hair problems and need a treatment that will stimulate tissue regeneration and the growth of the hair follicles.

If you suffer from hair problems, make sure to visit a health expert to get a full analysis of your case and get treated accordingly.
