One of the most revolutionary applications of the Advanced Plasma Renewal therapy performed at SHA Wellness Clinic, also known as Therapeutic Apheresis, occurs on the immune system.

“The main objective of this treatment is to purify the blood, eliminating or reducing harmful or excessive substances that are capable of producing a disease or are involved in its progression. Toxic substances, inflammatory proteins, immunocomplexes. This has a direct impact on the immune system, as this therapy can decrease the excessive or inappropriate immune response, reducing the concentration of tissue-damaging antibodies and inflammatory components in the blood,” explains Dr Rosario Garcia, a specialist in Revitalising Medicine at SHA Wellness Clinic.

In addition, this blood purification therapy can improve blood flow properties by removing high molecular weight proteins, which reduces blood viscosity and improves microcirculation, tissue oxygenation and metabolic exchange processes.

Blood purification therapy is performed with a medical procedure known as “therapeutic apheresis” which allows, using specialised equipment, the blood to be removed from a person in order to separate out undesirable components. “It is “an extracorporeal procedure that can remove molecules and immunocomplexes involved in more than 80 different diseases. This is why it is especially recommended for patients with neurological diseases such as Multiple Sclerosis and Myasthenia gravis,” states Dr Garcia.

In mild to moderate Alzheimer’s, it has been shown that after six sessions of this therapy the symptoms stabilise. In patients at high vascular risk, this treatment can reverse atheromatous plaques and prevent cardiovascular events. In general, it is recommended for people who wish to improve their overall health by preventing diseases that develop or become more serious in later decades of life.

This therapy has many benefits, including reducing or eliminating harmful or excessive substances from the blood, such as toxins, antibodies or abnormal proteins. In addition, blood viscosity and microcirculation are immediately improved, cytokines are reduced and the inflammatory response is modulated. These benefits give this therapy a potential rejuvenating and revitalising effect at the cellular level, suggesting a promising ability to restore health at the fundamental level of the body’s cells.

Advanced Plasma Renewal therapy is useful for treating various chronic conditions such as autoimmune disorders and inflammatory diseases. When used preventively, it helps to counteract the onset of chronic degenerative processes and to prevent cardiovascular events in high-risk patients.

Autoimmune diseases are becoming increasingly common. About 100 such conditions are known and almost 5% of the population suffers from one of them, especially women, who account for 80% of the cases.

In a systematic review published in theInternational Journal of Celiac Diseasewhich included 30 studies published in the last 30 years on the incidence and prevalence of these diseases, it was estimated that the proportion of the world’s population affected has increased by more than 12% each year. New cases increased by 19% annually.

Virtually any part of the body can be affected, including joints, muscles, skin and also vital organs such as the brain, heart, kidneys or lungs, resulting in a heterogeneous group of diseases.
