Trends come and go, but the best kinds of trends are those which also happen to be healthy. As the health and wellness industry becomes more popular, people are becoming more health conscious and part of living a healthy lifestyle is eating well. If there’s one thing that eating healthily has proven is that it doesn’t have to be boring. As a matter of fact, some of people’s favourite dishes are actually ones that are also nutritious!
So, what are the healthy food trends everyone loves?
Who doesn’t love hummus? This middle-eastern dish is a delicious starter that can’t go wrong. For the hummus lovers, you’ll be glad to hear that it’s actually very healthy. The star ingredient, chickpeas, are a great source of minerals such as iron, zinc, folate, manganese and copper as well as plant-based protein and fiber. All the other ingredients used are also very beneficial for your health like lemon, garlic, olive oil and cumin. Of course, there’s a difference between store bought and homemade hummus, the latter being the healthy option as its all natural ingredients whilst the former contains additives. It’s really easy to make at home, simply add all the ingredients into a blender or food processor, chop some vegetables like carrots or cucumbers à la julienne as a replacement to chips and then serve!
Avocados have become very popular in the last couple of years. Whether it’s on toast, in smoothies or in a classic guacamole, it’s usually always a crowd pleasure.
