When it comes to aging, everybody goes through it. It’s a natural process in life. However, whilst aging affects everybody, there are ways to prevent premature aging to age more gracefully, full of health, vitality and energy.
Nutrition plays a key role in our health and in the process of aging. A diet rich in processed foods with little to no nutritional value, will oxidise your cells and create inflammation in the body, all factors that cause premature aging. Therefore, a diet rich in fruits, vegetables and grains will not only benefit your health and wellbeing, but will also give you a more youthful look, from glowing skin, to luscious hair.
How you take care of your body on the inside, will affect how you look on the outside. Therefore, try these anti-aging foods to prevent premature aging.
Whilst this is a common cliché, drinking enough water is very important for your whole organism, including your skin. The skin is compromised mainly of water; therefore, keeping it hydrated is very important. Make sure to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day, and more depending on your fitness routine.
Berries are full of antioxidants; substances that protect the body from free radicals, preventing cells from being damaged and aging prematurely. Açai berries are the richest antioxidants on the planet. You can buy it in powdered form and include it in your smoothies, porridge or juices.
This delicious fruit contains a wide array of skin-loving vitamins, such as vitamin A, C, E and K. They’re responsible of strengthening the repair process of skin tissues, combat the process of aging and keep the skin hydrated and firm. They are also essential nutrients for healthy, glowing hair.
Pomegranates are an anti-aging superfood. They are rich in vitamin C, which help repair skin cells damaged by the sun. They also fight free radical damage and increase and preserve the skin’s collagen.
Leafy greens like spinach and kale are great skin foods as they are loaded with beta-carotene and lutein, two nutrients that improve skin elasticity. They are also rich in water, which keeps your skin cells hydrated.
They’re rich omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin A, B and E, zinc and antioxidants. These vitamins and minerals are beneficial for skin health and will give your skin, hair and nail’s a healthier appearance.
Salmon, and other cold-water fish like sardines and mackerel, are a good source of omega-3 fatty acids, which strengthen skin-cell membranes, keeping them moist and hydrated.
Include these healthy foods in your diet on a regular basis and you’ll notice that your skin will have a healthier appearance, as well as your hair and nails. Make sure to drink a lot of water and exercise as well to release toxins and keep your body healthy!
