Everyone has heard the phrase “We need to sleep 8 hours a day” or “Sleeping 8 hours is good for health.” But, is this statement true? 8 hours is the approximate average we need sleep, but each person has his individual needs and the amount can vary considerably. Most adults need to sleep between 7 and 8 hours a day and, according to our biological clock, is better for health to sleep at night.
However, it has been scientifically proven that sleeping less than 6 hours is bad for health because we are not leaving enough time to rest our bodies and to perform all life processes that occur during sleep.
But even more important than the hours of sleep is the quality of our sleep, ie to sleep well and rest as needed. Many people spend more than 8 hours in bed but really their sleep disorders such as apnea or simply the lack of peace when they sleep make they do not rest properly and decrease your health and wellness.
