Do you like to eat healthy food? Do you exercise on a daily basis? Then, a detox plan is essential to your lifestyle! Sometimes we need to detoxify the body to cleanse the toxins generated by bad habits or by external contaminants. Accumulating toxins can be harmful to you, you can feel tired, have headaches and your defences can lower, among other things.

Detoxing the liver is what is mainly of interest to us, since it is one of the organs responsible for cleaning out and eliminating drugs, food toxins and alcohol, among other products, from our system. That is why this organ is the one that accumulates the most toxins. Thanks to the high amounts of vitamins, fibre, antioxidants and minerals, this plan can also help us improve intestinal transit, reduce digestive problems and retention of fluids, stabilise our blood glucose levels and lower our cholesterol and triglyceride levels. At the same time, it can contribute to the regulation of blood pressure.

Below, we will give you examples of foods to use for our detox diet at home, easily and quickly.

Which detox foods are the most recommended?

Lemon

It can help us detoxify thanks to its high vitamin C content. You can make a glass of lemonade without sugar every day and drink it on an empty stomach; you will feel more energetic during the day!

Artichoke

It is well known for its diuretic properties. When you prepare it, do not throw out the cooking water. Serve it in a glass and drink it, repeating this at least three times a week.

Green tea

A magical infusion that contains lots of flavonoids, necessary to boost our immune system. It also helps reduce inflammation and fluid retention. Get ready to snack for a week on a mix of an apple, half a glass of lemon juice, water and a cup of green tea. You will notice that you have a lot of vitality and energy!

Spinach

High in fibre, it is very rich in vitamin A. This can help repair liver cell damage. You can combine it with apple and celery and consume it for your first course.

Ginger and cinnamon

It combines the best benefits of both foods. The synergy of both helps protect the liver. You can prepare a delicious cup of tea using both ingredients. These will provide you with substances that will protect you from liver cell damage.

Turmeric

One of the most used spices in the kitchen has numerous properties. It is, among other things, an anti-inflammatory and helps prevent cancer, gives protection to the liver, and is bactericidal and antiviral. Include it in your dishes, sauces or dressings.

Don’t forget to restrict bad eating habits!

Preferably, you should restrict the consumption of foods with refined sugars, processed foods with high salt and trans fats, among others. Thus, we should avoid the consumption of industrial pastries, precooked foods and soft drinks, among other things.
