Hatha Yoga vs. Bikram Yoga

But Today we wanted to show the differences between these two yoga modalities: Hatha Yoga vs. Bikram Yoga, as they are the most practiced yoga modalities around the World. Hatha Yoga

Hatha yoga is the yoga of asanas. It looks for purification, strength and lightness of body, mind and spirit. It is the most widespread yoga practice worldwide.

The literal translation of the term Hatha Yoga is “the yoga of force”.
Yoga means union; syllable Ha refers to the feminine energy of the Moon and Tha syllable refers to the masculine energy of the Sun.

It’s Slow paced, gentle and focused on breathing and meditation.

Hatha yoga is especially recommended for beginners, for those wanting to learn the basics of yoga.

Bikram Yoga

Developed by Bikram Choudhury, a famous Indian yoga teacher who started practicing the asanas since he was 5 years old and eventually developed his own style. It is also known as Hot Yoga, as it’s practiced in 95-100ºF room. Every class follows the same sequence of 26 postures and practitioners must pay close attention to hydration, since 1 to 2 liters of water can be lost in a lesson.
