As every Thursday we bring you a healthy recipe so that you can do it at home. Today’s healthy recipe is very simple and its main ingredient is red rice, also known as red yeast rice.

Red rice is part of the traditional oriental food, which they use as food and natural medicine, as it has many health benefits such as lowering cholesterol and triglycerides. It has that characteristic color by fermenting rice with a natural yeast that is purple which is what acts as a natural remedy against cholesterol excess. It’s also shown that red rice has neuroprotective properties that help keep the mind active and younger. Need more reasons to incorporate it into your healthy diet?

We suggest you a very healthy recipe of red rice with vegetables and seitan we hope you like it. Health benefits from red rice in a healthy diet

Ingredients (for about 10 servings):

  • Red rice 1kg
  • Vegetable broth 1l (or water, replacing)
  • Seitan 300g
  • Onion 200g
  • Garlic 10g
  • Saffron (as needed)
  • Nuts cream 50g
  • Snow peas 300g
  • Zucchini 300g
  • Chard 300g

Instructions: Put the garlic with seitan until they are sligthly golden. Then, add the saffron, the nuts puree and the red rice. Fry for a minute and add the broth. Cook the rice over low heat for 15 minutes and finally add the chopped vegetables and stir while cook for 10-15 minutes more. Put unrefined salt to taste and serve. A rich and tasty recipe for your healthy diet!
